The Musée Lalique will open its doors in spring 2011 in Wingen-sur-Moder in Alsace. Designed by the internationally renowned architect, Jean-Michel Wilmotte, on an old glassmaking site that operated in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, the museum will spotlight the many facets of René Lalique's work, from jewellery to architectural components and taking in perfume bottles and the decorative arts. Vases, table centrepieces, radiator caps, statuettes&hellip will remind us that his major sources of inspiration were women, flora and fauna. Lalique crystal, in other words Lalique's creative output since 1945, will also be given pride of place and homage will be paid to the glassmakers who perpetuate this expertise, putting their dexterity and knowledge at the service of creation.

    &ldquoPlus vrai que nature!&rdquo
    Baccarat Heritage department exhibition
    From October 29th to May 15th, 2011

Nature has always been a source of inspiration for Baccarat creations. From the Neorenaissance bestiary of the Second Empire to the organic design of the seventies through Art Nouveau exuberance and the modernist stylization of ArtDeco, Baccarat has always been inspired by flora and fauna.

Consisting of 300pieces, the exhibition on display at the Baccarat Gallery Museum in Paris, allows for a fascinating dialog between contemporary creation design and heritage. Hence, Japanese vases from the Universal Exhibition of 1878 are exhibited together with the Lumiere d&rsquoAsie collection by Kenzo Takada (2006) as well as the pearly dragonflies of the Art Nouveau red crystal vase (1910) which are shown with the Demoiselles collection by Catherine Chaillou (2000).

Through the interpretation of nature, Baccarat has demonstrated a sophisticated savoir faire and an understanding and knowledge to beautifully recreate life&rsquos sciences with the magic of crystal.

Located in the East of France, in &ldquoLorraine&rdquo, the birthplace of the French crystal, a few miles away from the &ldquoCristallerie de Saint-Louis&rdquo, 30 miles away from the &ldquoCristallerie of Baccarat&rdquo, the &ldquoMontbronn&rdquo crystal ranks high.

It is the outcome of a very ancient craftwork. It is mouthblown skilfully by the glassworker and engraved with a great deal of precision. It is a moving piece of art loaded with ancestral traditions. The faith which is deeply rooted in this craft and which can be compared to that of the cathedrals builders in the Middle-ages has not varied since.

Crystal is one of the most poetic material of our daily life! It can alternately be the receptacle of your flowers or your finest wine. The magic combination of the purest and finest sand and of the sunshine creates a divine sound. And because there are thousand ways of living this daily art, let us offer you the opportunity to acquire a very up-market crystal, in the most genuine tradition of master glassworkers.
