The Children's Gallery at the Muséum national d&rsquoHistoire naturelle in Paris opened last 6th October.

The Museum Children&rsquos Gallery is a new permanent exhibition area dedicated to the environment and biodiversity: fundamental issues for the future of the world.
Biodiversity is approached via four representative spaces laid out atmospherically on two floors. After the city, the river and the tropical forest, the voyage of discovery is extended by a mezzanine overlooking the first floor that offers a dynamic approach to the future of the planet in which we are all invited to think about our own interaction with the environment.
The Children&rsquos Gallery is totally geared to the core target public &ndash the 6-12 age range. Covering a total of over 500 m2, it offers a practical, active experience that arouses curiosity and intelligence. Touch and visual systems (screens, handling surfaces) sit alongside nearly 400 &ldquotouchable&rdquo sculptures of animals and stuffed specimens. Workshops and other activities can be offered in adjacent rooms.

&ldquoRoom for Children: Stylish Spaces for Sleep and Play&rdquo by Susanna Salk, Rizzoli, 2010, 240 p.

The first book to present excellent design for children&rsquos rooms, these unique spaces are created by well-known designers, parents, and often even the kids themselves.

Proving that good design is not just for the rest of the house, Room for Children takes children&rsquos spaces with creative seriousness. Whether for a newborn, toddler, or teenager, the rooms shown here enrich the experience of childhood while

inspiring with their imaginative design. Showcasing work by top-notch designers, including Kelly Wearstler, Charlotte Moss, Alessandra Branca, Amanda Nisbet, and Thomas Jayne, among many others, the rooms offer a diversity of styles, from traditional to modern, formal to whimsical. Whether in apartments, houses, or country homes, for a single child or for several children, each creates a vision of childhood at its best.

In addition to bedrooms, children&rsquos spaces devoted specifically to work or play areas illustrate clever solutions to typical design problems. With stunning photography by top interior photographers, such as Pieter Estersohn, Paul Costello, William Abranowicz, and Melanie Avecedo, Room for Children proves that children&rsquos rooms are a new frontier in design and is sure to appeal to designers as well as kids and their parents.
