Laurent Bourhis is a visual artist he presents through a range of sensitive textures a luminous writing of space. Since 2005, he combines the technology of LEDs to fragile and elegant materials in order to create an exceptional atmosphere.

What is the particularity of each of his creations? They are tailored and made for a specific space, unique, working closely with architects and interior designers. Each project is subject to a detailed study, from first sketches to technical drawings for installation through the development of samples and models. From first sketches to technical drawings for installation, each project begins with a detailed study, some samples and texture models. The shape, the size, the density, the luminosity are so many points on which it is possible to intervene to modify an existing texture and create a work which becomes integrated ideally into the structured space. Involving public places - restaurants, hotels, offices, centers of well-being - an extreme attention is naturally worn as much in the respect for the safety standards as in the problems bound to the maintenance.

Japanese paper (100% vegetal), polycarbonate transparent or translucent, PVC, tissue paper, glass, crystal and silicone are the materials of Laurent Le Bourhis's preference.
It cuts these basic materials or tears them, creases them, fold them, he twists them, warms them, chisels them in search of a new texture, of a new effect of transparencies or reflections. Translucent or twinkling the majority of its bright works play the accumulation of hundreds or thousand assembled modules. An almost natural structure which comes to live in the volumes, to draw a route or to cover a surface. Generally oversized every installation, by its uniqueness and its conception in connection with the building, is a visual strong element which passes on its singular character and its artistic dimension.

Abyss is a a new lamp design by Berlin-based product designers Osko et Deichmann. Abyss is a table lamp composed by a modular structure of injection moulded opal polycarbonate illuminated by a high voltage LED strip. This vertebrate structure allows infinite combinations of self-standing articulated forms that seem to freely float in space. The subliminal perception of this light body evokes atmospheres of deep ocean ambience in which luminous organisms sinuously and beamingly float into the darkness.
