By the early 19th century, the emergence of a Bourgeois class, a taste for fine craftsmanship and an intense social life created the need for "Job Printing,"  paper products (personal announcements, calling cards, greeting cards, stationery products, etc) so necessary to high society. They were made from hand engraved tools and dies by master artisans. In 1880, Emile Benneton, a French carver and engraver set up shop in Paris and founded the Benneton House in the Madeleine church quarter. Benneton's taste for beautiful thing and his love of delicate workmanship made him a success, and soon he was supplying products by appointment to the courts of many European countries.

The intellectual and artistic elite were frequent visitors to the House on Boulevard Malesherbes. Since then, the company, which has always remained in Benneton family hands. It has been able to preserve its heritage of savoir-faire and still supplies a discerning and elegant clientele the world over with the same carefully crafted engravings, with the same taste in the choice of colors and papers, and always, the same quest for elegance and detail.

    Lorenza Luti Kartell

Born in Milan in 1978, Lorenza Luti, after attending Liceo Classico High School, received her degree from Bocconi University in Economics with a specialty in Marketing and Strategic Management. Lorenza started her professional career outside the family business by working for Ermenegildo Zegna. In 2002, she took charge of the Managing Department of the Flagship Store Kartell in Milan with a main focus on the sales of the brand. She then spent a year in Paris as the Regional Manager of Kartell to strengthen her sales experience.

In 2005, Lorenza left Paris to join the headquarters of the family business as the Marketing Manager of Retail for the company. Worldwide expansion allowed Kartell to reach as many as 120 flagship stores and 150 &ldquoshop-in-shops.&rdquo In the meantime, the marketing activities which Kartell undertook reinforced its image and gave Kartell its world class communication efforts and co-branding.

In 2008, Lorenza gives green light to a new brand extension: a project called the "Glue Cinderella,&rdquo which indeed gives rise to the first shoe collection by Kartell. Plastic shoes, of course! Given that the product expertise of Kartell is in the plastics industry, these ballerina flats were produced industrially by using a technical process on the material that produced a two-tone effect when combining opaque and transparent textures in the same model. In line with the international success of &ldquoGlue Cinderella,&rdquo the shoe collection enriches new models every season while new collaborations and outreach accessories are already being considered.

As Secretary General of the Foundation, Lorenza also handles Kartell museum. The Kartell Museum was awarded The Laureate Guggenheim prize as "best business museum", which is in fact right next to the the company's headquarters in Noviglio. Lorenza is also part of the steering committee of Musei Impresa (the Italian association of archives and business museums).
