For its 44th edition from 19 to 22 October 2017 in Paris, FIAC will host a carefully balanced selection of leading international galleries in the iconic Grand Palais. FIAC consolidates the presence of major galleries working in the field of modern and contemporary art and confirms its support of the emerging generation, notably via the Lafayette Sector organized in partnership with our official sponsor, the Galeries Lafayette Group. Fresh, eclectic and edgy, this year’s selection is sure to attract wide-spread attention from connaisseurs and amateurs alike. Keen interest from exhibitors in all sectors of the market confirms Paris’s growing appeal.

A major FIAC event, the Hors les Murs programmes, freely accessible and with no admission fees, have been attracting growing public interest and enable French and international galleries and artists to present sculptures, installations, performances, films, or sound works within public space and prestigious Parisian institutions during FIAC.

Vera Mercer Life  by Vera Mercer Ed Gestalten . 128p. Oct 2015.

In 2006, Vera Mercer (b. Berlin, 1936; lives and works in Omaha, Nebraska, and Paris) started taking photographs of ravishing still lifes with sumptuous flower arrangements, freshly shot game, and skulls. This book presents Mercer’s most recent creations: affecting and uncompromising tableaux vivants whose composition and palette are without equal. In an interview in 2014, the artist said: “Life and death are two magnificent things. I wish my photographs would convey that even more strongly.” Her still lifes are the realization of a lifelong dream. With flowers in full bloom, ripe fruit on the verge of spoiling, and dead creatures, her art is a quintessential memento mori and at once an encomium of life.

In 1895 / An exhaustive catalogue of products made at La Rochère was published (many cut-glass serving glasses, salt cellars and jam pots, but also medical equipment, lighting and roof tiles).

In 1967 / Production was automated. Hand presses were replaced by automatic presses. The first mechanised tableware products were ice cream dishes and La Rochere was soon to become a market leader in this product. The years 2000 / The two types of production / mouth-blown glass and glass / explain the great difference in price between products. In both these sectors, they are on the edge of top-range products.

The Cristallerie de Montbronn

The Cristallerie de Montbronn carries out this art work while adapting its work to the competitive markets, which are full of low quality machine made products. The only 'automatic' work in the Cristallerie de Montbronn is the acid polishing process, which gives its incomparable brilliant and limpid brightness to the crystal. Strong controls during the whole manufacturing process are in keeping with the Master glass workers’ art. Each piece is individually checked and guaranteed, which gives our work a first-class quality reputation.
