Each Cogolin rug was knotted or woven by local craftswomen whose skill, combined with Lauer’s groundbreaking innovations, helped propel the brand to international renown by the 1930s. Lauer’s expertise quickly made him a widely sought-after collaborator with many of Europe’s finest designers, such as Jules Leleu, Christian Bérard, Jean-Michel Frank, Sir David Hicks and even the artist Jean Cocteau. Each Cogolin rug is a unique piece crafted by artisans with exceptional expertise.

Founded in 1910, the Maison Leleu was, for more then sixty years, leader of the french know how in the furniture and exceptional decoration universe that associate art, luxury and handcraft. The Maison Leleu is radiating and known all around the world for all it's decorations : lamps, exceptional wood furnitures, fabrics, wallpapers and handmade carpets. This brand seduced the greatest, from the Japenese emperor to the Iran Shah. The last building site of this prestigious house was the transformation of Persépolis in response to the Shah's request. Result, 64 hectars of ruins which were supposed to be transformed in a party area to celebrate the 2 500 years of the Persian Empire. Two years of work which will never be payed and that will cause the closing of Maison Leleu in 1973.

Asleep for 45 years, Maison Leleu is finaly waking up thanks to Jules Leleu's great-granddaughter, Alexia. After studying medicine, then marketing, she founded a job in the pharmaceutical industry. The history of her great heritage will finaly catch her up and she will go back to the Boulle School where she studies history of art, way of living and habitat. An indispensable knowledge to better understand and respect the history of the family business. She has now released her first collection of tailor-made carpets baptised "Itinérance" which are related to four themes : Galaxy, Labyrinth, Civilisation and Tribal. She visits the archives, chooses more actual colours and adjusts the paterns while respecting the ancestral traditions. The handmade persian stitch is kept, an asymetric knot less tight and straight than the turkish one. A great adventure for Alexia Leleu who's full of energy and creativity.
