Somfy is the story of a small French company that has become a world leader. Founded in 1969, Somfy is a French group from Haute-Savoie, a center of "décolletage". This company specializes in the automation of openings and closures of the house and building. 10% of their turnover is dedicated to innovation. Somfy employs more than 500 engineers and technicians and has filed more than 280 patents. This company also has a pole dedicated to home automation.

Lotte de Raadt is based in Eindhoven where her products are designed and produced. She graduated in 2010 from the Design Academy Eindhoven (DAE) with her project; Ode to Tap water. The projects Archiving Water and Colored Drops are a continuation of her fascination with water. Her work is a personal reflection on the interaction between people and water in its different shapes and states; from consumer goods to experiences in nature and from solid to liquid and even gaseous forms. Her designs aim to highlight the beauty of water and thereby stimulate a more conscious use of this precious natural resource. Lotte de Raadt has a studio and ceramics workshop for conscious design, where she especially aspires to create public awareness on issues surrounding the usage of water.
