Tomás Alonso was born in Vigo, Spain in 1974. He likes to draw from childhood and observes his father's work in an unassailable way.  At the age of 19 he left as a young au pair and discovered the city of Washington to perfect his English. He trained as an industrial designer at the Fort Lauderdale Art Institute in Florida, which closed its doors in 2018.  For a decade he travels from the United States to Italy and then to Australia. He knew what he lacked a more conceptual background and joined the Royal College of Art in London and in 2005 obtained a Master of Art in Design.

Co-founder of Okay Studio, a design collective, Tomás Alonso oscillates between industrial design and crafts manship. These two modes of creation have advantages and constraints, enriching each other more than they clash.  In creation he likes the prototype phase, which for him is a crucial phase in the elaboration of the pro ject. This stage reveals the constraints, the imperfec tions, the orientations that justify the choices made during the creation process.
