Electric tajine - Various cooking aids

An electric tajine is a modern version of the traditional cooking utensil called "tajine", which is commonly used in North African cuisine to prepare stewed dishes. The traditional tajine is a kind of terracotta pot with a conical lid, designed for slow cooking at low temperatures, which allows to mix the flavors and cook the ingredients evenly. The electric tagine retains the aesthetics of the traditional tagine, but it is equipped with an electric heating element for more convenient use.

Here is a description of the different styles of electric tagines and some European manufacturers of electric tagines:

Traditional Electric Tajine: This style of electric tajine is designed to closely resemble a traditional terracotta tajine. It is usually made of enamelled ceramic and has a conical lid. The electric heating element is placed under the bottom of the tagine, and it allows to cook the ingredients slowly and evenly.

Multifunction electric tajine: Some models of electric tajines offer additional features, such as steam cooking, grilling or rotisserie. They have temperature settings and timers for precise cooking.

Flat electric tajine: This style of electric tajine has a flatter and wider shape compared to a traditional tajine. It is often used for dishes that require a larger cooking surface, such as stews or vegetable dishes.
