Etandart

'Etendart was created in 1992 by Mina Ben Miled, a Tunisian architect whose passion is handicraft design. She explores multiple traditional craftship methods to produce authentic but modern artifacts. The techniques used are purely traditional, but the dimensions, designs and colors are constantly updated and adapted to modern life taste and needs. We offer complete collections of handcrafted mergoums (flat carpets), kilims, mats, wool, linen and cotton textiles (curtains, throws, scarves…). Our textile production of bedcovers, scarves and especially Foutas (Hammam towels) are woven on antique Jacquard, looms, unlike all those currently available on the market (which are woven on industrial looms). The Foutas comme in various sizes, have a very absorbant texture and are perfectly adapted to bath or beach needs. The Fouta was originally used in the hammam as a bath towel and a wrap. Nowadays, it is used as a beach or pool towel that is fast drying and light in texture. It is also used as a tablecloth, a throw, a gym towel… and of course in the bathroom. The various textures of our Foutas make them particularly water absorbant and a perfect alternative to regular bath towels. They also come in various sizes fit for the body, face and hands. The Foutas also come in a wide range of colors (from light to bright), depending on the seasons and destinations. Like all our textiles, the Foutas are woven on traditional semi-mecanic jacquard looms (not industrial looms). They are made of 100% cotton (or 50% linen, 50% cotton) with hand finished tassles and fringes. They are practical, polyvalent and ecological products which wash more easily than regular towels.
