Batel

At the beginning of the century last as my grandfather, Hyppolite Batel, then apprentice cabinetmaker in the faubourg St-Antoine, has learned to master the technique and aesthetics of the work of the wood that will serve as his lifelong. Thus, during the first world war, he is recalled by Nieuport aircraft looking for cabinet makers of art plants to shape wooden propellers. Calm returned, he created his own company in 1920 in Avranches, on strikes from Mont-St-Michel. It draws, creates and reproduces small furniture that will cross time. He transmitted his knowledge to my father who, in turn, develops its own collections, modernizes the tool while respecting the rules of the art and perpetuating a patina which is now appreciated by an international clientele. I forgotten never what is at the origin of this precious heritage.
