    Samuel Tomatis

    Activité : Designer
The Brittany coasts are suffocating under the proliferation of green toxic algae due to intensive livestock far ming, the use of pesticides and global warming. What to do with these tons of algae waste? Samuel Tomatis, gra duate in 2016 of the ENSCI - Les Ateliers has the idea of recycling these intrusive algae by giving them meaning.

In 2017 he is the winner of the Agora scholarship, for having created a 100% biodegradable algae. This agro-material can be used to make furniture, textiles, building materials... Samuel Tomatis likes to say that this seaweed is a "chameleon material" because it imitates marvellously glass, bakelite, oxidized steel, limestone. He won the Déclics Jeunes grant from the Fondation de France in 2019. His work has been exhibited at La fa brique du Vivant at the Centre Pompidou, some of his pieces are part of the museum's collection.
