Guillaume Herbaut

Guillaume Herbaut born in 1970 in Suresnes is a graphic designer and journalist. He was recognized for his work during the Chernorbyl drama in Ukraine. He was one of the founding members in the 1990s, of L'oeil Public / a collective of photographers. As a teenager, he discovered photography at the library in his neighborhood. He is passionate about committed photographers who tell the world through their shots. In parallel with his commissions for the press, he sculpts a universe with a strong social and political dimension over a long period of time. He photographs places steeped in history and drama that shake up memory and reveal human tragedy. In 2004 he won the Lucien Hervé Prize for the theme Man and his environment. In 2009, he received the second prize at the World Press Photo. Guillaume Herbaut's work has been exhibited solo or as part of group exhibitions at the Musée du Jeu de Paume in Paris, the Maison Rouge, Foto España and the Silverstein Gallery in New York. He is represented by Agence Vu.
