Established in 1835, FOIN®, a French SME, designs, manufactures and distributes chainmail protection products; it is today world leader in the manufacture of protective gloves and aprons for the food industry. Since the Company was set up by Alexandre FOIN, five generations have further developed it, first in Paris, then in Plancher-Bas in the Haute-Saône Region. Broad economic expansion in the 60s and the emergence of the notion of work protection have helped FOIN® to open up to intensive research and development. And, between industry and creation, constant exchanges have come about, thus enabling the company to develop chainmail in three sectors of activity: - Protection (gloves and aprons) - Ballistics (chainmail entering into the production of bulletproof vests) - Creation ? with the setting up, a few years ago, of the FOIN® COTTE DE MAILLES Department by Bruno Frison FOIN® COTTE DE MAILLES is a brand of HONEYWELL SAFETY PRODUCTS, world leader in Personal Protective Equipment, representing the Company's ?Creation? activity. 100% French, and environment friendly... Set up in Plancher-Bas in the Haute-Saône Region, close to Belfort, the 100% French production site is ISO 9001 certified. FOIN® chainmail is made essentially from 316L stainless steel of ??food'' quality. Stainless steel is a healthy material, as it is inert. It does not interact with the external environment. It is also neutral, meaning that it does not reject metal ions into the external environment. Stainless steel is fully and indefinitely recyclable, without any loss in quality. 70% of the stainless steel used in the production of chainmail comes from recycled materials and 100% of the chainmail manufactured can be recycled. The site also has its own purification plant on location.
