    Univers :  Children's corner

    • The children's room is the new decorating playground for parents. Older than before, with better purchasing power, they want to spoil their little ones and, above all, indulge themselves!
    • No more nursery style, the junior's room is decorative and harmonizes with the rest of the house. Subtle shades of gray, lilac, and lichen are preferred over light blue and pink. Goodbye to teddy bear borders. Stickers designed by trendy graphic artists adorn the walls.
    • The specialized websites and showrooms that emerge every morning are proof of this renewal. Their sharp selection of furniture, bed linen, lighting, and children's decorative accessories is a huge success. This rapidly expanding market is still young. It started about 5 years ago, closely following the boom in children's fashion. The Nordic countries and France are the main contributors.
    • Publishers have followed this trend. They miniaturize iconic design chairs and develop collections dedicated to children. The iconic Louis Ghost by Philippe Starck now has... its little version: Loulou Ghost. The mini Panton Chair or vintage chairs by Bertoia or Arne Jacobsen are irresistible to parents. And the children?
    • According to Matalie Crasset, "Homothety is not the solution because children do not want a fixed chair (...). Objects must be open to children so that they can graft their imagination onto them and invest their furniture differently every day."
    • Charles Eames was one of the first designers to think about this. His set of chairs, table, and stool in molded plywood designed in 1945 has childlike shapes, all curved. His famous Plywood Elephant, still reissued, stylishly

    ... enlivens children's rooms.
  • In the spirit of their predecessors, current designers like Matali Crasset have fun rediscovering their inner child. They invent furniture specially adapted for juniors, between games and furniture: cabin beds, car track rugs...
  • In the interest of sustainability, designers imagine evolving furniture that will follow the child as they grow.
  • Kazam 01, the desk designed by Mahmoud Akram, can be used from the age of two and up to adolescence thanks to its three different heights. Eco-friendly, it is made of PEFC-certified wood from Normandy.
  • A true bestseller, the Stokke Sleepi convertible bed has been awarded numerous prizes for its ingenuity. From a mini cocoon cradle at birth, it expands into a baby bed. With the junior kit, it becomes a 120cm bed usable until around 10 years old or transforms into a chair.
  • The high chair, revisited by Maartje Steenkamp, is equally brilliant. Its graduated legs are cut as needed according to the child's requirements!
  • Smart furniture that saves space is also very popular. No safety issues for wall-mounted changing tables that do not take up floor space. Very practical, they have storage spaces for toiletries. Two-in-one changing tables equipped with a sliding bathtub are equally well thought out.
  • Design, inventive, and playful, children's furniture almost makes us want to return to childhood.
