Exhibition : "Retrospective Maurice Jean Lefebvre", Brussels, 1955 Artist Biography: Maurice Lefebvre was a Belgian Realist painter of landscapes, figures and portraits. He was also both a decorator and a poet. He received his artistic education at the Academy of Brussels under the tutorship of both H Van der Hecht and Jean Portaels. Lefebvre became a teacher himself at the Academy of Sint-Gillis from 1906 onward. He painted many landscapes in Versailles, a magical environment for him as an artist. He became a member of "Le Sillon" and also a collaborator for both "Le Thyrse" and "La Wallonie". In 1955, a retrospective was held in his honour in Brussels.
