Evening Scene of the lakes of Boîtsfort near Brussels. Artist Biography: Jef Dutillieu was a Belgian Post-Impressionist and Realist painter of landscapes, cityscapes, seascapes and figures. He received his artistic education together with his contemporaries Jacques Madyol and Paul-Jean Martel at the Academy of Brussels from 1895 until 1896. He debuted with his oeuvre in 1900 and participated from 1906 onward at the Triennal Salons of Liège and Ghent. He painted alot at the Belgian coast. After the First World War, he was commissioned by the Belgian government to paint the reminiscents of the battlefields in Belgium and France. He moved back to Uccle in 1920. Dutillieu was a member of "Le Labeur" and founding member of "Uccle Centre d'Art". He was also knighted in the Leopold's Order in 1926 for his services.
