PAIR OF VERSAILLES URNS

A superb pair of cast-iron Versailles urns, each body cast with acorn and oak leaf lower section beneath a Greek key frieze and with Janus head handles of a king and queen with boar's mask terminals and a frieze of scrolling scallop shells, the beaded rim with stiff leaf decoration, on rising fluted circular foot and square base, marked A. DURENNE PARIS, French, ca. 1850. 33 ins. high at handles, urn 28 ins. high, 26 ins. overall width (including handles), opening 12 ins. diameter, base 12 ins. square.
