Rattan comes from different species of palm trees growing in some tropical jungles, including those in Myanmar (formerly Burma). It comes in the form of vines that can measure several hundred meters, which, struggling against the dense darkness of the forest, searching, climbing, the full light of the canopy. Unlike wicker, which is of a single fiber, and bamboo, hollow plant, the rattan consists of a heart, the marrow, consisting of a set of fibers forming a very hard grain, used, without chemicals, in the making of our articles.
