Description: Gilt walnut.

This pair of armchairs à la Reine (with flat backs) is in a rocaille style much influenced by the neoclassicism of the 1760s. Even though the structure remains in the Louis XV style, one notices several influences of the new Parisian neoclassical movement. While the crown of the backrest is still marked by a play of curves and the decoration at the base of the backrest is of water foliage, the vertical rails of the backrest are decorated with palm leaves, which is more characteristic of the mid-1750s.
