    After Pierre Jean David d'Angers (1788-1856).Bronze low-relief representing the profile of Augustin Serres (1786-1868).Signed and dated 1838.Thuya burl veneered frame.Diameter: 15.5 cm (6.1 in.) - Frame dimensions: 23 x 20 cm (9.1 x 7.9).Accidents et losses, wear to the bronze patina.Antoine Etienne Renaud Augustin Serres was a physician and embryologist. He became the president of the Académie des sciences in 1841.A similar example of this low-relief is displayed at the David d'Angers museum in Angers, France.
