The Grassi family has been active in the stone quarrying sector since the 19th century, when Pietro Grassi set up the first quarry on the Nanto hills and started producing fine stone for sculptors and nearby building sites. Pietro Grassi's children and grandchildren treasured his commitment and started widening the market of the family-produced stone. They offered their production to important building contractors in the provinces of Vicenza, Padua and Verona. In the 1950s, the third generation of the family first brought Vicenza stone to international trade-fairs. The company and its products thus became world-famous. Nowadays Grassi Pietre is constantly confronted with new global market challenges, but it still treasures the original care and commitment of its founder, and the company's head-office is still located in Nanto (Vicenza), as it originally was.
